News The Academy Awards Will Honor 75th Anniversary of "The Wizard Of Oz" The 86th Academy Awards, which will be presented March 2 at the Dolby Theatre at Hollywood & Highland Center, will honor the 75th anniversary of "The Wizard Of Oz," a best picture nominee in 1939, show producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron announced Jan. 28.

"We are delighted to celebrate the birthday of one of the most beloved movies of all time at this year’s Oscars,” said Zadan and Meron in a statement.

“The Wizard of Oz” received six Oscar nominations, winning two for Original Score and Song.

As previously reported, the awards show, hosted by Ellen DeGeneres, will also honor real-life heroes, super heroes, popular heroes and animated heroes — both past and present — as well as the filmmakers who bring them to life.

The Academy Awards will be televised live on the ABC Television Network.
