Stars of Broadway Will Sing New York: Songs of the City at 92Y | Playbill

News Stars of Broadway Will Sing New York: Songs of the City at 92Y Klea Blackhurst, Darius de Haas, La Tanya Hall, Leslie Kritzer, Jeffrey Schecter and Billy Stritch will celebrate the Big Apple in song March 21-23 at the 92Y as part of the latest Lyrics & Lyricists concert event.

Hosted by artistic director Deborah Grace Winer, New York: Songs of the City will have music direction by John Oddo and stage direction by Mark Waldrop. The evenings will celebrate such writers as Cole Porter, Richard Rodgers & Lorenz Hart, Duke Ellington, Leonard Bernstein and Billy Joel, who captured New York's spirit in song.

"The show will be a kaleidoscopic vision of life in the city, from the inspiring and romantic to the aggravating and the quirky," Winer said in a statement. "Why have so many songwriters been compelled to write about New York? What is it about this city that fuels an endless supply of stories? New York is a character all itself, and we have this great cast of real New Yorkers (meaning they come from everywhere) to take us on this entertaining and exhilarating musical ride in search of what it really means to be a New Yorker."
