News Starry Casting for Productions at Shakespeare's Globe This Summer Charles Edwards, who recently starred opposite Angela Lansbury in the West End and in the L.A., San Francisco and Washington DC runs of Blithe Spirit is to play the title role in William Shakespeare's Richard II, just one of the luminaries who will grace the stage of Shakespeare's Globe this summer.



Casting for King John will include Jo Stone-Fewings and Alex Waldmann, and actor-singer-songwriter Johnny Flynn, who was in the original companies of Jerusalem, Richard III and Twelfth Night opposite Mark Rylance that all transferred to Broadway, will compose the score for period instruments for As You Like It. The full cast for King John also includes Laurence Belcher, Simon Coates, Aruhan Galieva, Joseph Marcell, Barbara Marten, Mark Meadows, Tanya Moodie, Ciaran Owens, Daniel Rabin and Giles Terera.


As You Like It, which begins performances May 15 prior to an official opening May 20 for a run in rep through Sept. 5, is directed by Blanche McIntyre. King John, which previews at Temple Church April 10-19 before transferring to Northampton's Holy Sepulchre Church, where it begins performances April 24 prior to an official opening April 28 for a run through May 16, will then play at Shakespeare's Globe in rep from June 1 to 27. It is directed by James Dacre. Richard II will begin performances July 11, prior to an official opening July 22, for a run through Oct. 18. It is directed by Simon Godwin.
