Los Angeles’ Geffen Playhouse has announced the full cast for its production of Eugene O’Neill’s Pulitzer Prize-winning play Long Day’s Journey Into Night, directed by Jeanie Hackett. The story about a family coming apart at the seams was revived on Broadway last year, winning two Tony Awards.
Joining previously announced Tony nominee Alfred Molina (Fiddler on the Roof) as James Tyrone and Malcolm in the Middle’s Jane Kaczmarek as Mary Cavan Tyrone at the Geffen will be Angela Goethals as Cathleen, Stephen Louis Grush as James Tyrone, Jr., and Colin Woodell as Edmund Tyrone.
The production will run January 31–March 18 in the Gil Cates Theater with an opening night set for February 8.
The creative team includes scenic designer Tom Buderwitz, costume designer Denitsa Bliznakova, lighting designer Elizabeth Harper, projection designer Jason H. Thompson, fight director Peter Katona, movement coach Jean-Louis Rodrigue, dramaturg William Davies King, production stage manager Young Ji, assistant stage manager Cate Cundiff, and casting director Phyllis Schuringa, CSA. Michael Roth is the composer of original music and soundscape.
