Phantom of the Opera, the longest-running Broadway show in history, celebrates its 29th anniversary January 26, 2017. Look back at the men who have donned the famous mask over the years. Fifteen actors have been cast as the Phantom on Broadway, with an additional five who played limited engagements.
Current Phantom James Barbour is the 15th actor to officially take over the role in the Broadway production. He follows (in order) original star Michael Crawford, Timothy Nolen, Cris Groenendaal, Steve Barton, Kevin Gray, Mark Jacoby, Marcus Lovett, Davis Gaines, Thomas James O'Leary, Hugh Panaro, Howard McGillin, John Cudia, Peter Jöback, and Norm Lewis. In addition, there have been five limited-engagement replacements: Jeff Keller, Ted Keegan, Brad Little, Gary Mauer, and Laird Mackintosh.
