Husband-and-wife Katie Lowes and Adam Shapiro make their Broadway debuts together in the musical Waitress. The pair take on the roles of Dawn and Ogie, respectively, beginning July 17—offering them the opportunity to get married on stage eight times a week.

The two, who co-founded Los Angeles' IAMA Theatre Company, replace Caitlin Houlahan and original cast member Christopher Fitzgerald, who earned a Tony Award nomination for his performance.
Lowes is best known for her performance as Quinn Perkins on ABC's Scandal (her co-star Kerry Washington is also Broadway-bound with American Son). Through IAMA Theatre Company, she's appeared on the L.A. stage in Accidental Blonde, Assistance, and A Dog's House. Shapiro appeared on a season two episode of Scandal, as well as Sense8 and The Affair. His previous stage credits include IAMA's Assistance (opposite Lowes), The Recommendation, Hey, Morgan!, and Rent.The musical, which features a score by Sara Bareilles and a book by Jessie Nelson, opened at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre in 2016. The current cast includes Smash star Katharine McPhee as Jenna (through August 19), Erich Bergen as Dr. Pomatter (through August 12), Benny Elledge as Cal, Ben Thompson as Earl, Steve Vinovich as Joe, and NaTasha Yvette Williams as Becky.
