The Thrillpeddlers, a San Francisco theatre company that has been performing authentic Grand Guignol horror plays on the West Coast for more than 20 years, have announced that they will be vacating their longtime home, the Hypnodrome. The company was originally signed for a two-year stint at the theatre, but ended up performing there for 13 years.
“Our benefactors Larry and David have found a buyer for 575 10th Street. They offered us this magnificent hideaway in 2004 for just two years, so I consider that a damned good run!“ announced Russell Blackwood, the Thrillpeddlers’ producing artistic director, in an online statement.
The company will need to vacate the Hypnodrome by the end of February, and has announced several benefit performances to help cover the costs of the move. The Thrillpeddlers have added additional performances of the previously sold-out engagement of Naked Dudes Reading Lovecraft and is presenting a semi-staged concert version of Amazon Apocalypse.
In addition to the horror plays, the Thrillpeddlers are known for their Theatre of the Ridiculous musicals and “spookshows.“ The company has not yet announced its new location.
The Hypnodrome is located at 575 10th Street, San Francisco. For tickets and more information visit hypnodrome.org.
