Sam Gold, who won a Tony for directing Fun Home, will host The Wooster Group’s spring benefit April 2 at the company’s home, The Performing Garage (33 Wooster Street).
Gold, who was assistant director and dramaturg with The Wooster Group from 2003 to 2005, is currently directing the Broadway production of King Lear starring Glenda Jackson. His co-hosts for the evening will be Frances McDormand, Joel Coen, Cindy Sherman, and Maura Tierney.
Musical performances will be given by Suzzy Roche, Lucy Wainwright Roche, and Loudon Wainwright III.
The event will kick off with drinks at 6:30 PM, followed by a dinner created by chef Alejandro Alcocer of L’Estudio, with wine donated by Thackery & Company Winemakers. Attendees will dine family-style alongside the hosts, benefit committee members, and the Wooster Group company, including Elizabeth LeCompte, Kate Valk, Ari Fliakos, and Scott Shepherd.
