Brendan Hunt's new play, The Art Couple, will received a star studded reading at Symphony Space later this month. Held October 28, the reading is the newest addition to the Space's At Play series.

Hunt is an award-winning actor, screenwriter, and playwright best known for co-creating the international hit Apple TV+ series Ted Lasso along with Jason Sudeikis, Joe Kelly, and Bill Lawrence. He was also part of the show's ensemble cast, portraying Ted's trusty assistant Coach Beard. In its first two seasons, the show won consecutive Emmy Awards for Outstanding Comedy Series, a Peabody Award, and many others.

The Art Couple brings together a motley crew, including Vincent van Gogh, Paul Gauguin, and Neil Simon, as a young busboy verges on changing the face of American theatre forever.

The October 28 reading will star Tony winners Roger Bart (The Producers), Laura Benanti (Gypsy), Will Brill (Stereophonic), and Nikki M. James (The Book of Mormon). They will be joined by Briga Heelan (Great News), Max Monnig, Hunt, and Peter Grosz. Academy Award–winning director Ezra Edelman (O.J.: Made in America) will read the stage directions.

Symphony Space’s At Play series invites directors, playwrights, and artists to imagine, create, and experiment with a project they’ve always dreamed of doing, in one-night-only public events. Neil Simon plays a role in the series’ origin story: the institution conceived of At Play with actor/director John Benjamin Hickey, and launched it with a 2017 reading of Simon’s Plaza Suite, starring Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick, directed by Hickey. The evening led to a wildly successful, sold-out Broadway production that went on to play London's West End.
