Worry not, Reuben Kaye is on his way!
The Playbill and Edinburgh Fringe favorite drag and cabaret performer is taking his autobiographical solo show The Butch is Back on the road following the completion of this year's Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
A native Australian, Kaye's cabaret/comedy performance toes the line between autobiographical standup and full-throated vocals. The Butch is Back, which is equal parts introspective and explosive, explores his origins as a young, queer boy in Melbourne as he processes his fraught relationship with his father. 2023 marks the second sold out year for The Butch is Back on the Fringe, returning alongside Kaye's long-running Fringe classic, the adults-only variety show The Kaye Hole.
Playbill Pick: The Kaye Hole at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe
The Butch is Back will play a near month long residency at London's Southbank Centre December 7–30. The London engagement is part of a U.K. tour, with stops at Cambridge, Manchester, Brighton, Leeds, Bristol, and Sheffield—among others.
Additionally, Kaye will bring the show to a selection of other European cities, including Antwerp, Oslo, Amsterdam, Stockholm, and Helsinki.
