Rashad V. Chambers and Dr. Kate Cerulli will be honored at this year's Amplify Gala Celebration, hosted by Houses on the Moon Theater Company. The benefit will also celebrate this year's Mauricio Leyton Award Recipient, Homies Unidos. The annual gala is set for October 2 at the Green Room 42.
Chambers will be honored for his prolific career as a Tony-winning producer, talent manager, and entertainment lawyer, working with numerous productions, including American Son, Ain't Too Proud, Betrayal, The Inheritance, Caroline, or Change, The Music Man, Topdog/Underdog, and Fat Ham.
Cerulli is honored for her advocacy for human rights and marginalized groups. In the past four decades, she has worked extensively as a counselor, attorney, and researcher, specializing in supporting victims of violence. She has also published over 120 peer-reviewed articles in addition to book chapters, law review articles, and published abstracts. She has specifically collaborated with House on the Moon Theater Company to develop a theatrical production and educator toolkit addressing child abuse and neglect.
Homies Unidos will receive Mauricio Leyton Award. The award honors the memory of the late Chilean actor by annually recognizing an individual or organization championing the unheard voice through community service. The award includes a $1,000 cash grant to support their work within communities in need. Unidos will be recognized for his mission to end violence and promote peace in Central American communities through violence prevention and intervention, and the promotion of human rights in immigrant communities in Los Angeles and El Salvador.
The gala will begin at 6:30 PM. For tickets and more information, visit HousesontheMoon.org.
