The concerts, starring Rob Lorey (Beauty and the Beast, Aspects of Love) and Nick Cartell (Off-Broadway's Frankenstein), will begin Sept.16 at New Jersey's Fair Lawn Community Center.
The concerts will raise funds for Skyline’s educational programming and operating expenses and play Sept. 16 at 7:30 PM; Sept. 17 at 2 PM and 7:30 PM; and Sept. 18 at 2 PM.
In Pirates of Penzance, according to Skyline, "Frederic (Cartell) is apprenticed to a band of tenderhearted, orphaned pirates, led by the raucous Pirate King (Lorey). Upon completing his 21st year, Fredric is free to return to respectable society. But it turns out that he was born on February 29 in leap year, and he remains apprenticed to the pirates until his 21st birthday. By the end of the operetta, the pirates, a Major General, his beautiful but unwed daughters, and the timid constabulary all contribute to the cacophony."
STC’s season of classics continues Dec. 17 with a new version of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol, performed in a one-man tour de force, and concludes with Thornton Wilder’s Our Town, running May 18-20, 2012.
