Fiddler on the Roof has music by Jerry Bock, lyrics by Sheldon Harnick and a book by Joseph Stein, which is based on Sholem Aleichem stories by special permission of Arnold Perl.
"The story centers on Tevye, the father of five daughters, and his attempts to maintain his family and Jewish religious traditions while outside influences encroach upon their lives," according to press notes. "He must cope both with the strong-willed actions of his three older daughters—each one's choice of husband moves further away from the customs of his faith—and with the edict of the Tsar that evicts the Jews from their village."
The creative team also includes choreographer Parker Esse, scenic designer Michael Schweikardt, costume designer Alejo Vietti, lighting designer John Lasiter, sound designer Jay Hilton, music director Michael O’Flaherty, assistant music director F. Wade Russo and orchestrator Dan DeLange.
Fiddler on the Roof is produced for Goodspeed Musicals by Michael P. Price.
