Ringwald (Cabaret, tick, tick...BOOM!) played her final performance June 15. She is expecting a baby. Understudy Keating will assume the role for the time being — before beginning rehearsals for The Boy From Oz.
Keating created the role of Lotty Wilton in the world premiere of Matthew Barber's Enchanted April at The Hartford Stage Company. The actress was awarded the 2000 Helen Hayes Award for Best Actress for Tom Stoppard's Indian Ink at Washington, D.C.'s Studio Theatre. Other regional credits include The Rise and Fall of Little Voice and Dinner With Friends.
The Matthew Barber play about Englishwomen transformed by a vacation in Italy began its run at the Belasco Theatre on April 8. The cast of Enchanted April includes Jayne Atkinson, Elizabeth Ashley, Michael Hayden, Michael Cumpsty, Patricia Conolly, Dagmara Dominczyk and Daniel Gerroll. Hartford Stage artistic director Michael Wilson directed the work.
