The North American tour of the Broadway musical A Bronx Tale launches October 14 in Rochester, New York. Get a sneak peek of the touring company in the video above.
The musical has a book by Oscar nominee Chazz Palminteri, music by Oscar, Grammy, and Tony winner Alan Menken, and lyrics by Grammy winner and Oscar and Tony nominee Glenn Slater. The production is directed by two-time Oscar winner Robert De Niro and four-time Tony winner Jerry Zaks, with choreography by Tony nominee Sergio Trujillo.
The cast, which features 11 alumni from the Broadway production, is led by Joe Barbara as Sonny, Richard H. Blake as Lorenzo, Joey Barreiro as Calogero, Michelle Aravena as Rosina, Brianna-Marie Bell as Jane, Antonio Beverly as Tyrone,
Frankie Leoni as Young Calogero, and Shane Pry as Young Calogero Alternate.
The ensemble features Mike Backes, Michael Barra, Sean Bell, Joshua
Michael Burrage, Joey Calveri, Giovanni DiGabriele, John Gardiner, Peter Gregus, Haley
Hannah, Kirk Lydell, Ashley McManus, Chris Messina, Robert Pieranunzi, Brandi Porter, Kyli Rae, Joseph Sammour, Paul Salvatoriello, Brittany Williams, and Jason Williams.
Based on the solo show that inspired the classic film, this streetwise musical takes audiences to the stoops of the Bronx in the 1960s—where a young man is caught between the father he loves and the mob boss he’d love to be.
A Bronx Tale premiered at Paper Mill Playhouse in spring 2016. The musical opened on Broadway at the Longacre Theatre that December and ended its run August 5 this year, having played 700 performances.
The production also features scenic design by Beowulf Boritt, costume design by William Ivey Long, lighting design by Howell Binkley, sound design by Gareth Owen, hair and wig design by Paul Huntley, makeup design by Anne Ford-Coates, casting by Tara Rubin Casting, and fight coordination by Robert Westley. Music supervision and arrangements are by Ron Melrose, and orchestrations are by Doug Besterman.
Producers are Tommy Mottola, the Dodgers, Tribeca Productions, and Evamere Entertainment.
