Mean Girls is heading to Broadway in the spring following a world-premiere run at the National Theater in Washington this fall. The new musical comedy from Tina Fey and husband Jeff Richmond is set to begin previews March 12, 2018, and open April 8 at Broadway's August Wilson Theatre.
The musical features a book by Emmy winner Fey (who wrote the screenplay and appeared in the original 2004 film), music by Richmond, and lyrics by Tony nominee Nell Benjamin. Tony winner Casey Nicholaw directs and choreographs.
Tickets to the Broadway engagement will go on sale to the general public October 3—a popular date for fans of the film. American Express pre-sale begins September 10.

Mean Girls will kick off its world premiere at Washington, D.C.'s National Theatre October 31.
As previously announced, the cast for the D.C. run is led by Erika Henningsen as Cady Heron, Taylor Louderman as Regina George, Ashley Park as Gretchen Wieners, Kate Rockwell as Karen Smith, Barrett Wilbert Weed as Janis Sarkisian, Grey Henson as Damian Hubbard, Kerry Butler as Ms. Norbury, Kyle Selig as Aaron Samuels, Cheech Manohar as Kevin Gnapoor, and Rick Younger as Mr. Duvall.
Casting for the show's Broadway bow will be confirmed at a later date.Similarly to the movie, the musical will follow Cady Heron, who joins the American high school food chain after having lived in Africa with her parents. Determined to end Regina’s vicious reign as Queen Bee of the school, she devises a plan to tear her and her cruel “Plastics” down.
