Playbill Goes Fringe Maggie Crane's Side By Side To Play Brooklyn Comedy Collective

The dark comedy solo show previously sold out its run at the Edinburgh Fringe

Comedian Maggie Crane is bringing her sold out Edinburgh Fringe solo show Side by Side back across the pond. Crane will perform the show at Brooklyn Comedy Collective September 23.

The dark comedy is an autobiographical account of Crane's experience growing up in western Massachusetts in the early 2000s. Directed by Annalisa Plumb, Side by Side deals directly with Crane's relationship to her brother, Aidan, who was developmentally disabled, blind, and in a wheelchair, making their sibling rivalry all the more complicated.

Crane brings a deft comedic touch to the topics of death, disability, and Dunkin Donuts, with a healthy dose of preteen angst and visceral vulnerability on the side. Blending the worlds of stand up and solo performance, Side by Side was a sell out success on the Fringe, where it played Underbelly.

Side by Side features music by DJ Smells, with a focus on mid 2000s emo music, including Crane's beloved Panic! at the Disco. The Brooklyn Comedy Collective is a 21+ venue for admittance.
