David Yazbek and Itamar Moses’ The Band's Visit celebrates one year since opening at Broadway’s Ethel Barrymore Theatre November 9, 2017. The show won ten Tony Awards earlier this year, including Best Musical, Best Score for David Yazbek, Best Book for Itamar Moses, Best Direction of a Musical for David Cromer, and wins for three of its stars: Katrina Lenk, Ari'el Stachel, and Tony Shalhoub. The show is also the recipient of a number of Drama League, New York Drama Critics’ Circle, Lucille Lortel, Outer Critics Circle, and Drama Desk Awards, among other accolades.
The musical, based on the screenplay by Eran Kolirin, features a book by Moses and music and lyrics by Yazbek. David Cromer directs with choreography by Patrick McCollum.
The cast is currently made up of Tony winner Katrina Lenk, Sasson Gabay (who starred in the original 2007 film), Tony winner Ari'el Stachel, Etai Benson, Adam Kantor, Brandon Uranowitz, Andrew Polk, Samir Shukry, Bill Army, Joseph Kamal, Rachel Prather, Jonathan Raviv, Sharone Sayegh, Kristen Sieh, Layan Elwazani, Pomme Koch, Ahmad Maksoud, Jodi McFadden, and James Rana.
