Emmy winner John Leguizamo’s Latin History for Morons at Broadway’s Studio 54 Theatre recouped its capitalization, becoming the first play of the 2017–18 season to announce it earned back its investment.

The monologue play marks Leguizamo’s fourth solo venture on Broadway, following his success with Ghetto Klown, Sexaholix, and Freak; he earned Tony nominations for writing and starring in the latter.

Latin History for Morons traces the marginalization of Latinos in U.S. history and the vital roles they played—from a satirical recap of Aztec and Incan history to stories of Latin patriots in the Revolutionary and Civil War and beyond.
