Tony Award winner Ben Platt released the first two songs on his debut solo album, Sing To Me Instead, from Atlantic Records, February 1 ahead of the full album drop March 29.
The Dear Evan Hansen star, who originated the role from its earliest stages and won the Tony for his Broadway performance, premiered two tracks from his album: “Bad Habit” and “Ease My Mind.”
At an exclusive preview event January 23, Platt described the album as his exploration of love in all of its forms—romantic, friendship, familial. “Bad Habit” kicks off the record with the yearning for a love lost, while “Ease My Mind” describes the calm that only a special person could provide—the person who abated his anxiety and put him at ease.
The official music video for “Bad Habit” will be out March 29. Pre-add the album on iTunes or pre-save the album on Spotify here.

Platt broke out as Benji in the 2012 hit film Pitch Perfect and that same year was cast as Elder Cunningham in the Chicago production of The Book of Mormon. He then transferred to the Broadway production in 2014. He created the role of Evan Hansen in Dear Evan Hansen from early readings through the out-of-town tryout at Arena Stage in Washington, D.C., to Off-Broadway’s Second Stage, and, finally, Broadway. Along with the 2017 Tony Award, Platt earned the Distinguished Performance Award by the Drama League and was the youngest performer ever to do so.
