Passion, the dark, Italian-set musical rumination on the light and dark nature of love — and the idea of unconditional love — features a libretto by James Lapine and music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim. Breakfast at Tiffany's (Broadway at the Cort Theatre). The world premiere of Richard Greenberg's Breakfast at Tiffany's, based on Truman Capote's novella, stars Emilia Clarke in the iconic role of Holly Golightly, Cory Michael Smith as Fred and George Wendt as Joe Bell. The play, according to press notes, "is set in New York City in 1943. Fred, a young writer from Louisiana, meets Holly Golightly, a charming, vivacious and utterly elusive good-time girl. Everyone falls in love with Holly – including Fred. But Fred is poor, and Holly’s other suitors include a playboy millionaire and the future president of Brazil. The Off-Broadway production of Ike Holter's Hit the Wall, which imagines the events of the 1969 Stonewall Riots, features Rania Salem Manganaro, Arturo Soria, Nick Bailey, Jessica Dickey, Ben Diskant, Nathan Lee Graham, Matthew Greer, Gregory Haney, Sean Allan Krill, Ray Rizzo, Carolyn Michelle Smith and Indigo Street. Here's how it's billed: "It's the early hours of June 28, 1969 when a routine police raid on The Stonewall Inn, a popular underground gay bar in Greenwich Village, sparks a full-scale riot. Violent protests and street demonstrations continued for the next several days in what became known as The Stonewall Riots, thrusting a group of unlikely revolutionaries onto the frontlines of history and igniting one of the most influential social and political movements of the 20th Century.
