Broadway News Krystina Alabado Joins Broadway Cast of Mean Girls March 12 The American Psycho alum takes on the role of Gretchen Wieners, replacing Tony nominee Ashley Park.

Krystina Alabado, previously seen on Broadway in American Idiot and American Psycho, returns to the stage in the musical adaptation of Mean Girls. She takes on the role of Gretchen Wieners, stepping in for Ashley Park beginning March 12. Park, who earned a Tony nomination for her performance as the right-hand Plastic, took her final bow at the August Wilson Theatre March 10.

In addition to American Psycho and American Idiot, Alabado's stage credits include the national tours of Evita and Spring Awakening, as well as Off-Broadway's This Ain't No Disco, The Mad Ones, Lazarus, and Camp Wanatachi.

The current cast also includes Taylor Louderman as Regina George, Erika Henningsen as Cady Heron, Kate Rockwell as Karen Smith, Barrett Wilbert Weed as Janis Sarkisian, Grey Henson as Damian Hubbard, Kyle Selig as Aaron Samuels, Cheech Manohar as Kevin Gnapoor, Rick Younger as Mr. Duvall, and Jennifer Simard in the hat-trick track of Mrs. Heron, Ms. Norbury, and Mrs. George.

The musical, featuring a book by Tina Fey (who also wrote and appeared in the 2004 film), music by her husband Jeff Richmond, and lyrics by Nell Benjamin, opened on Broadway April 8 following a world premiere at Washington, D.C.'s National Theatre. The production earned 12 Tony nominations, including nods for Best Musical, its three writers, Park, Henson, Louderman, and director-choreographer Casey Nicholaw.
