59E59 Theaters will welcome Prospect Theater Company for a new, three-year residency, a program that will premiere three new musicals throughout its duration. The first will be Kait Kerrigan and Brian Lowdermilk’s The Mad Ones, to be directed by Stephen Brackett (Buyer & Cellar) in the fall.

“We are so excited and honored to have our show The Mad Ones be the Prospect Theater's first Off-Broadway venture and to find a New York City home at 59E59,” Kerrigan told Playbill. “We've been fans of both institutions for as long as we can remember and our collaboration has already been a dream come true. We just read a new draft of our script this week, including three new songs, and we think that fans of the show—formerly titled The Unauthorized Autobiography of Samantha Brown—are going to love the direction we're taking with the new material.”

The Mad Ones follows the life of Samantha Brown, a young woman on the brink of change. As she sits in her parents’ driveway, Samantha faces a choice: Will she follow in her mother's footsteps, or accept a dare from a friend and forge her own path? Performances will run November 7–December 17. Additional details will be announced at a later date.
“Over the years, Prospect has produced five new musicals with us, all enthusiastically received by our members,” commented 59E59’s president and founding artistic director Elysabeth Kleinhans in a press statement. “We are thrilled to help them embark on even more ambitious musical projects by offering them a larger space to produce while making it cost-effective for them to do so. This is exactly what 59E59 Theaters was built to do for non-profit theaters.”

“This residency is a natural extension of the strong relationship we have built with 59E59 Theaters over the past decade,” added Cara Reichel, the producing artistic director of Prospect. “We are grateful to have the opportunity to grow, reaching new and expanded audiences. Our annual productions at 59E59 will anchor a diverse array of year-round activities developing and producing new work by emerging artists.”

Tickets to The Mad Ones will go on sale to the general public April 18, with an exclusive pre-sale for 59E59 Members beginning April 11. Tickets are available by calling Ticket Central at (212) 279-4200 or online at 59e59.org.
