A new Canadian sit-down production of & Juliet will begin performances next December.

The production, which began its North American life in Toronto during their pre-Broadway engagement, will return to T-Dot in December 2025 at the Royal Alexandra Theatre. Exact dates and ticket details will be announced soon.

Casting for the new production will begin immediately, via Stephanie Gorin. Open call auditions will be announced at a later date. Audition updates will be posted regularly at mirvish.com

“The summer of 2022 will forever be in our minds as the summer of & Juliet,” shared producers David and Hannah Mirvish in a statement. “After two years without any live performances, this smart, funny, thrilling, and infectious musical brought back joy to our city in a major way. & Juliet filled the theatre again and reminded everyone how special it was to be part of a community of theatre goers sharing great entertainment, live and in person. The energy audiences generated responding to the show was a joy to behold. The ovations at the curtain calls were extraordinary. That’s when we knew & Juliet had to return to Toronto in a local, sit-down Canadian production. We can’t wait to see it back on stage here.”

The jukebox musical draws from the song catalogue of prolific pop songwriter Max Martin for its score. The musical, which was nominated for nine Tony Awards, including Best Musical, flips the script on the William Shakespeare classic, imagining what would happen next if Juliet hadn’t ended it all over Romeo. Featuring a book by David West Read, the score includes a mix of tunes by Max Martin and more, including “Since U Been Gone,” “Roar,” “I Want It That Way,” and “Confident.”

The production also has direction by Luke Sheppard, choreography by Jennifer Weber, musical supervision, orchestrations, and arrangements by Bill Sherman, scenic design by Soutra Gilmour, costume design by Paloma Young, lighting design by Howard Hudson, sound design by Gareth Owen, video projection design by Andrzej Goulding, hair, wig, and makeup design by J. Jared Janas, and musical direction and additional orchestrations by Dominic Fallacaro.

The international hit musical, which opened at the Sondheim November 17, 2022, was the first new musical of the 2022–2023 Broadway season to announce its recoupment. A North American national tour is currently underway, visiting more than 30 cities in its first year, including Boston, Atlanta, Chicago, Charlotte, Dallas, Seattle, San Francisco, and Los Angeles.
