Life is a cabaret populated by completely different faces come April 29, when Broadway's long-running revival of Cabaret receives a host of major cast changes.
On that date John Stamos of "Full House," Jane Leeves of "Frasier," Hal Linden of "Barney Miller" and Rick Holmes take over four of the leading roles in the Roundabout Theater Company production.
Television star John Stamos will play the new Emcee in the Tony-winning revival at Studio 54. Stamos, who was last on Broadway in the hit revival of How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, will step into the role that was created for the Roundabout production by Alan Cumming, who won a Tony for his work as the sexually-charged commentator. Raul Esparza, who will appear in two productions at this summer's Kennedy Center Sondheim Celebration, recently left the part.
Before becoming Niles Crane's ideal woman on "Frasier," the English actress Leeves—who plays Sally Bowles—had roles on the American sitcoms "Throb" and "Murphy Brown." Film credits include "To Live and Die in L.A." and "Monty Python's The Meaning of Life."
Linden, who earned a Tony Award for his work in the musical The Rothschilds, will portray Herr Schultz opposite the Fraulein Schneider of Polly Bergen. Linden received an Emmy Award nomination during each season of the seven-year run of the acclaim cop sitcom, "Barney Miller." He recently concluded a highly-praised cabaret gig at Feinstein's at the Regency. Among Linden's 21 Broadway credits are The Sisters Rosensweig, I'm Not Rappaport, Bells Are Ringing, On a Clear Day You Can See Forever, Subways Are For Sleeping and The Apple Tree. Linden's film work includes roles in "Out to Sea" and "Dumb Luck." Rick Holmes will join the company as Clifford Bradshaw. He recently starred in the Roundabout's Major Barbara.
