Trans Voices Cabaret, which has been held since 2017 at The Duplex, will make an NYC return February 5 in a new home: The Green Room 42. The concert series looks to shine a spotlight on the trans and nonbinary musical theatre community, with chapters in Chicago, Los Angeles, Portland, Oregon, and London. The upcoming NYC concert will both play for an in-person audience and stream live.
Returning from previous entries will be Carmen Castillo, Linda LA F.M., Bobbie Lowe, JJ Maley, Bee Michael, and Jayae Riley Jr. The evening will also feature newcomers Dallan G. Halkias and DeShawn Jenkins.
TVC creator Donnie Cianciotto is directing and emceeing, with music direction by Adam J. Rineer.
“We hope you can join us for an evening that not only celebrates but also uplifts the voices of transgender and nonbinary people,” says Cianciotto in a statement. “At a time when so much legislation is being passed across the country to strip rights and safety away from trans people, especially trans youth, it’s very important to come together and celebrate our joy and our power.”
