Jersey Boys Takes Final West End Bow After Nine-Year Run | Playbill

International News Jersey Boys Takes Final West End Bow After Nine-Year Run A second U.K. national tour will launch in December 2017.

The London production of Jersey Boys closes March 26 at the Piccadilly Theatre, following a nine-year run. It will subsequently hit the touring road again, beginning performances at Birmingham's New Alexandra Theatre in December 2017.

In a statement at the time of the announcement in September 2016, producer Michael David commented, "When we brought Jersey Boys here nine years ago, we hoped it was a good idea and that West End audiences would embrace it, but you never imagine it'll multiply and resonate as much as it has. We couldn't be more proud of the cast and crew who gave their all every night, and are profoundly grateful to the audiences who returned that energy without fail. Our time in London has been extraordinary, and we hope audiences around the U.K. will continue to embrace Jersey Boys as we bring the show to their hometowns."

Jersey Boys first opened at the West End's Prince Edward Theatre March 18, 2008, before transferring to its current home at the Piccadilly Theatre in March 2014. The first U.K. and Ireland tour ran for 18 months from September 2014-March 2016.

The current London cast is led by Matt Corner as Frankie Valli, Simon Bailey as Tommy DeVito, Declan Egan as Bob Gaudio and Matt Hunt as Nick Massi.

The Broadway production played its final performance January 15 at the August Wilson Theatre—currently the home of Groundhog Day.
