When the new musical adaptation of King Kong arrives on Broadway this fall, audiences may not recognize the character of Ann Darrow—a terrified pawn of both man and beast in the 1933 classic—who has evolved into an independent woman driving the story of a new modern legend.
Christiani Pitts stars as Darrow in the Broadway production, beginning previews October 5. Last month, she gave the world a hint of her transformation in a music video for "Queen of New York," a new song for the New York production written by Eddie Perfect.

Directed and choreographed by Drew McOnie with a book by Jack Thorne (Harry Potter and the Cursed Child), a score by Marius de Vries (La La Land and Moulin Rouge!), and songs by Perfect (the upcoming Beetlejuice), the musical will also star Eric William Morris (Mamma Mia!) as Carl Denham.
King Kong will open at the Broadway Theatre November 8.
