Harlem's The Apollo will present a free staged reading of Jordan E. Cooper's Tony-nominated Ain't No Mo' January 20 at 7:30 PM at the new Apollo Stages at The Victoria Theater.

The cast will feature much of the original Broadway company, including Fedna Jacquet, Shannon Matesky, and Ebony Marshall-Oliver, joined by Biko Eisen-Martin and Tony winner Kara Young. Stevie Walker-Webb will again direct the reading, part of The Apollo's annual celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Ain’t No Mo’, which played Broadway's Belasco November 9-December 23, 2022, is a satirical comedy that imagines an alternate world where the U.S. government offers African Americans a free one-way ticket to Africa as a solution to America’s systemic racism. The production was subsequently nominated for six Tony Awards, including Best Play.

Ain’t No Mo’s use of dark humor to showcase the complexities of the African American experience while highlighting the enduring fight for racial justice mirrors The Apollo’s mission to celebrate Black culture and push forward critical conversations about race in the U.S. We hope this special weekend of events will help gather our community and encourage action and activism in this political climate,” says Apollo Executive Producer Kamilah Forbes in a statement.

Space is limited for the event. For more information click here.
