Industry News Grosses Analysis: Broadway’s Mean Girls Continues to Roar at the Box Office The production continues its streak of surpassing capacity at the August Wilson Theatre.

As summer vacation comes to a close, all eyes seem to be on the students of North Shore High as Mean Girls continues to gain extra credit at the August Wilson Theatre. The musical adaptation of the 2004 comedy grossed $1,577,293—107 percent of its potential—in the week ending August 19. The production has consistently played to 101 percent capacity since May.

Mean Girls was among the top ten shows for the week, joining a roster led by Hamliton, Springsteen on Broadway, The Lion King, and Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.

SpongeBob SquarePants approaches its final weeks on Broadway, ending its run at the Palace Theatre September 16. Since June, the production has grossed over $900,000, reaching seven figures a few times. Though it saw a slight week-to-week dip, the musical still managed to play to 91.6 percent capacity.
