The full roster is set for the spring staging of Tennessee Williams’ Orpheus Descending, starting April 15 at Theatr Clwyd in Wales before moving to the Menier Chocolate Factory in London May 9.
Olivier-nominated Hattie Morahan (A Doll’s House) will play the lead role of Lady, a small-town woman in an unhappy marriage, while Menier alum Seth Numrich (Travesties) will portray the new-in-town Val.
Rounding out the cast are Catrin Aaron, Michael Geary, Valentine Hanson, Jenny Livsey, Laura Jane Matthewson, Mark Meadows, Ifan Meredith, Ian Porter, Jemima Rooper, Carol Royle, and Carrie Quinlan.
Theatr Clwyd Artistic Director Tamara Harvey will helm the staging; this production is the first collaboration between the company and the Menier. Other creative roles will be announced at a later date.
Orpheus Descending, a re-working of Williams' Battle of Angels, debuted on Broadway in 1957 and was revived in 1989 with Vanessa Redgrave and Kevin Andersen.
