The 7:30 PM reading features James Lloyd Reynolds (O'Neill Festival, Goodspeed Opera, NYTW, Columbia New Plays Festival) alongside playwright Raver. Reynolds replaces the previously announced John Capes.
Fire on Babylon, according to press notes, "tells the story of two New Yorkers locked in personal crisis, while the city is having one of its own: the 2003 blackout. Reclusive novelist Hugo Thomas (Reynolds) has invited a beguiling young publishing intern (Raver) to his downtown apartment. Within moments of their meeting it becomes clear to each that the other offers much more than meets the eye. When Hugo's apartment is plunged into darkness, they connect in ways neither had imagined."
Raver's adaptation of The Picture of Dorian Gray was produced by Sonnet Repertory Theatre at the Signature Theatre Center in 2012, and a reading of his pre-WWII adaptation of Chekhov's The Seagull was seen at the Pearl Theatre Company.
Manhattan Theatre Club's Creative Center is located at 311 W. 43rd Street. Admission to the reading is free.
