Linda Eder, star of Broadway's Jekyll & Hyde, gave birth to Jake Ryan Wildhorn in Putnam, NY, Aug. 23.
The 8-pound-10-ounce son of Broadway composer Frank Wildhorn (the couple's first child together) arrived at 6:20 PM. The name was suggested by Wildhorn's son, Justin, who told the couple that no matter what they name the baby, he would call him Jake.
Eder, who has recorded cabaret songs and Wildhorn tunes on a number of albums ("It's Time," "Linda Eder" and "So Much More"), was promoting her latest disc, "It's No Secret Anymore," recorded in her final months of pregnancy, as late as Aug. 12.
Mother and son are doing fine, according to Eder's publicist.
Release date for the new disc is late September.
Wildhorn, who had a triple play on Broadway in spring 1999, when Pimpernel, The Civil War and Jekyll & Hyde were running simultaneously, confirmed in May that his next project will be Havana, starring Eder. He told Playbill On-Line it was not clear how soon after the birth of their child the show would arrive, although he suggested the 2000-2001 season.
