Off-Broadway News Five Parody Musical Will Play Off-Broadway

Ivana... Marla... Melania... Stormy... Ivanka... Can you guess the theme of this new political musical?

FIVE: The Parody Musical will make its world premiere Off-Broadway this season, playing Theater 555 beginning February 15. Opening night is February 19, and the run will continue through March 10.

Featuring a book and lyrics by Shimmy Braun and Moshiel Newman Daphna and music and lyrics by Billy Recce (A Musical About Star Wars), Five takes a cue from Six but turns its eyes to the major women within the orbit of another incendiary political figure. If you take a look at the logo and character names, we bet you'll be able to figure out which.

The cast will include Anyae Anasia as Ivana, Gabriella Joy Rodriguez (The Color Purple) as Marla, Jaime Lyn Beatty (Stranger Sings! The Parody Musical) as Melania, Gabi Garcia as Stormy, and Hannah Bonnett (Legally Blonde National Tour) as Ivanka.

"The lightbulb moment came right after we saw Six," say Braun and Daphna in a joint statement. "Who else can easily fight the battle of who had it the worst? … And so was born, FIVE: The Parody Musical, a primary held by the women in the life of our loathsome 45th President. It is a parody that, at last, gives these women their moment in the limelight …and a chance to ‘grab back.’"

Directed and choreographed by Jen Wineman, the production will feature orchestrations and arrangements by Terence "T" Odonkor, music direction by Lena Gabrielle, scenic design by Timothy Mackabee, costume design by Florence D'Lee, lighting design by Marie Yokoyama, and props by Brendan McCann. Visceral Entertainment is general managing, and casting is by Michael Cassara Casting.
