International News EastEnders’ David Witts Will Make West End Debut in Wicked The actor, seen on U.S. TV in Recovery Road and I Ship It, will step into the role of Fiyero.

After three years in Los Angeles, EastEnders star David Witts is returning to London to make his West End debut in the hit musical Wicked at the Apollo Victoria Theatre.

Witts, who starred as Joey Branning in the BBC serial EastEnders, for which he won Best Newcomer at the 2013 National Television Awards, will step into the role of Fiyero beginning July 23. He will succeed Bradley Jaden, who will play his final performance July 21.

On U.S. TV, Witts was a series regular in Recovery Road and I Ship It.


In a statement Witts said, “After three amazing years living and working in Los Angeles, I am excited to be getting back on stage again and to be coming home to make my West End debut in the incredible musical Wicked. I can’t wait to start rehearsals and to join everyone at the Apollo Victoria Theatre from 23 July.”

The London company is currently headed by Alice Fearn as Elphaba, Sophie Evans as Glinda, Bradley Jaden as Fiyero, Melanie La Barrie as Madame Morrible, Andy Hockley as The Wizard, Martin Ball as Doctor Dillamond, Sarah McNicholas as Nessarose, and Jack Lansbury as Boq.
