Charley's in your corner! Daniel Radcliffe has won the 2024 Tony Award for Best Performance by an Actor in a Featured Role in a Musical for his performance as Charley Kringas in Merrily We Roll Along.
Radcliffe spoke directly to his fellow Tony nominated co-stars Jonathan Groff and Lindsay Mendez while accepting his award. "I don't really have to act in this show," Radcliffe shared. "I just have to look at you and feel everything that I want to feel. I will never have it this good again. Thank you."
This is Radcliffe's first Tony win following his first Tony nomination, and in fact his first major award win. Radcliffe has played a range of roles on Broadway—the actor made an adventurous debut in 2008 playing Alan Strang in Equus, and later took the stage as J. Pierrepont Finch in How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, Billy in The Cripple of Inishmaan, and Jim in The Lifespan of a Fact.
Radcliffe's win was announced by Tony winner Ben Platt, who is playing Radcliffe's Merrily role of Charley Kringas for the musical's upcoming film version, being filmed over 20 years by director Richard Linklater.
