David B. Springstead, Sr. will direct the production with musical direction by Sherrod Brown and choreography by Jane Springstead.
The cast will be led by Elizabeth Elliott as Carrie White and Jillian Tschohl as Margaret White with Katie Lape as Sue Snell, Josh Kern as Tommy Ross, Angelica Yankausk as as Chris Hargensen, Justin Anderson as Billy Nolan, Mary Jakobowski as Miss Gardener, Janal Floyd as Mr. Stephens, Kristi Meyers as Norma, Leslie Kunz as Frieda, Nicole Andrewes as Helen, Connor Marr as George, Anthony Barker as Stokes and Jacob George as Freddy.
Carrie features a book by Lawrence D. Cohen, music by Academy Award winner Michael Gore and lyrics by Academy Award winner Dean Pitchford.
The musical, according to press notes, "centers on the tale of a tormented high school teenager who discovers she has telekinetic powers. The young girl must cope with a fanatically religious mother and her own coming of age. When her friends push her too far on prom night, they find out how destructive bullying can be."
The creative team includes Shane Stelly (scenic design), Ashley Wrye (costume design), Sky Curtis (light design), Kristi Duke (properties design), Christian Garthright (sound design), Charles Owrey (sound technician), Vlada Synenko (sound mixing), Ryan McIntire (visual effects) and John Roberts (technical coordination). The management team includes Nick Ventura (assistant director), Toni Lynn Barto (assistant stage manager), Todd Harris, Jr. (stage manager), Jeannette Rainey (production manager) and Makenna Keesler (light board operator). Generic Theater general producer Jeannette Rainey, executive director Philip Odango and artistic directors Matthew Friedman and Jennifer Murphy present the Norfolk run.
Performances are currently scheduled to run through Nov. 10.
