Playbill.com’s style guru George Brescia met up with his good friend Kate Baldwin at Darling, a West Village boutique that Brescia calls a go-to “secret weapon” for his style needs. Baldwin has Feinstein’s/54 Below gigs on the horizon, so why not figure out a hot new look for the stage?
With the help of Leah Hofman (she and Baldwin were castmates on Broadway in Big Fish), Brescia broke down some of the season’s most popular looks including suede, metallic fabrics with rousching, sexy stilettos, and more. Inspired by the presentation, Baldwin dressed in a comfortable-but-sexy ensemble that Brescia had specifically selected for her.
Brescia is a regular contributor to Playbill.com, covering all things style related. See him help Tony nominee Jennifer Simard select a dress for the 2016 Tony Awards.
Baldwin will perform her show Extraordinary Machine at Feinstein’s/54 Below October 25 and 27-29. She is slated to play Irene Molloy in the 2017 revival of Hello, Dolly! that will star Bette Midler as the titular matchmaker. The Jerry Herman (music and lyrics) and Michael Stewart (book) classic will be directed by Jerry Zaks.
