Playwright David Ives will return to the Classic Stage Company for his sixth collaboration with the Off-Broadway theatre: The Liar. The play is an adaptation of Pierre Corneille’s 17th century farce of mistaken identities and secrets, Le Menteur, and will be directed by Michael Kahn.
In The Liar, the charming Dorante cannot tell the truth, and the manservant Cliton cannot tell a lie. The Off-Broadway premiere is set to kick off January 11 at CSC, located at 136 East 13th Street, New York. The production will have its official press opening January 26 and play a limited engagement through February 26.
The cast of The Liar includes Christian Conn, Aubrey Deeker, Carson Elrod, Kelly Hutchinson, Adam Lefevre, Ismenia Mendes, Amelia Pedlow, and Tony Roach.
Set design is by Alexander Dodge, with costume design by Murell Horton, lighting design by Mary Louise Geiger, original music by Adam Wernick, and sound design by Matt Stine.
