Based on the 2003 New Line Cinema film starring Will Ferrell, Elf features a book by Tony winners Thomas Meehan (Annie, The Producers, Hairspray) and Bob Martin (The Drowsy Chaperone), with songs by Tony nominees Matthew Sklar and Chad Beguelin (The Wedding Singer). The musical made its Broadway debut in 2010 at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre. A separate Broadway revival of Elf will play the Marquis Theatre beginning November 9 with a cast led by Grey Henson and Sean Astin.
Elf follows Buddy, a young orphan who mistakenly crawls into Santa’s bag and is transported to the North Pole. Unaware that he is human, Buddy’s size and poor toy-making abilities cause him to face the truth. With Santa’s permission, he embarks on a journey to New York City to find his birth father, discover his true identity, and help New York remember the meaning of Christmas.
The tour will also have scenic design by Christine Peters, costume design by Gregg Barnes, lighting design by Paul Miller, flying effects by ZFX Inc., sound design by Shannon Slaton, wig and hair design by Bernia Ardia, orchestrations by Doug Besterman, vocal arrangements by Phil Reno, dance arrangements by David Chase, music coordination by Jon Mezzio, music supervision by Michael Gildin, and casting by the Wojcik Casting Team.
The production stage manager is Bethany Sortman with assistant stage managers Hope Jewell and Riley Gibson. The company manager is Ryan Buchholz with assistant company manager Shawn Passero. The tour music director/conductor is Charlie Yokom.
