Cast and creative team members from the film adaptation of Tony-winning playwright Stephen Karam’s Speech & Debate will gather for a MainStage panel event as part of BroadwayCon 2017.
The panel takes place January 28, 2017, at noon.
Darren Criss, who has a cameo in the film, will moderate the panel that includes playwright Karam, cast members Sarah Steele, Liam James, Austin P. McKenzie, and Roger Bart, and producer Tom Rice.
Fans will also get a sneak peek at the screen adaptation. A surprise musical guest is also planned.
Based on Karam’s 2007 play, “Speech & Debate follows three teenagers brought together by a series of mishaps. Frustrated by the hypocrisy they see in their parents, teachers, and the entire school board, the unlikely trio set out to find a common truth and make their voices heard as they revive a defunct school club and take on the world. Blogging, blackmail, and Broadway belting drive the trio’s bond in this wickedly funny teen comedy.”
BroadwayCon, which is co-presented by Playbill, Mischief Management, and Anthony Rapp, offers theatre fans a one-of-a-kind array of panels, performances, one-on-one star moments, seminars, autograph and photo sessions, a booming marketplace, and other activities.
