Brittany K. Allen's Redwood has extended Off-Broadway at the Ensemble Studio Theatre. The production will now run through November 18. Opening night was October 26.

Directed by Mikhaela Mahony, Redwood was originally slated for April 2020, but was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Previews began October 18.

When Steve Durbin goes down the rabbit hole of his family's genealogy, an unwelcome discovery throws the entire family into turmoil. Exploring interracial family relationships in a deeply scarred country, Redwood is partially a dance piece.

The company features playwright Brittany K. Allen, Denny Dale Bess, Bryn Carter, Tyrone Mitchell Henderson, Drew Lewis, Portia, Kate Siahaan-Rigg, and Eric R. Williams.

Additionally, Redwood features set design by Ao Li, lighting design by Betsy Chester and Stacey Derosier, costume design by Mika Eubanks, sound design by Kathy Ruvuna, and prop design by Caitlyn Murphy. Sasha Hutchings serves as choreographer and assistant director, alongside Fran Acuña-Almiron as production stage manager and Ingrid Pierson as assistant stage manager.

Now in its 55th year, Ensemble Studio Theatre has developed thousands of new American plays throughout its existence. This year marks the 30th anniversary of Youngblood, EST's award-winning collective for emerging playwrights, of which Allen is a member.
