Playwrights Horizons has announced that Tony nominee Brandon Victor Dixon will perform alongside Christine Ebersole, Patti LuPone, and Kelli O’Hara at its upcoming spring gala. The evening will honor the Grey Gardens and War Paint writing team of Scott Frankel, Michael Korie, and Doug Wright.
The gala will be held May 8 at the event space 583 Park Avenue, and will also feature special appearances by The Debate Society and The Wolves playwright Sarah DeLappe.
A Celebration of Song will feature selections from Grey Gardens, which had its world premiere at Playwrights Horizons before transferring to Broadway; War Paint; and Far From Heaven, Frankel and Korie’s musical collaboration with Richard Greenberg, and starring O'Hara.
The evening will also pay special recognition to book writer Greenberg and director Michael Greif (Grey Gardens, Far From Heaven, and War Paint).
The annual gala is the Off-Broadway theatre’s largest fundraising event of the year, with proceeds going to support six annual productions, the development of new plays and musicals, ticket subsidies, and programs for students and early-career professionals. Serving as gala co-chairs will be Dana M. Seshens, War Paint producer David Stone, and Aleksandra Szczepanowska.
Individual tickets for the Gala start at $1,000 and tables start at $10,000. For more information regarding tickets and sponsorship opportunities, visit phnyc.org/gala or call (929) 299-4368.
