Ben Vereen, most famous for his role as the Leading Player in the original Pippin, will soon hit the small screen.

Following his October appearance as Dr. Everett von Scott in FOX’s made-for-TV-musical The Rocky Horror Picture Show, Vereen will take on a recurring role in the new comedy series Making History for the same network, according to Deadline.com.

Written by Julius “Goldy” Sharpe, the show follows three friends from two different centuries as they navigate time travel and the challenges of daily life—albeit different challenges for different time periods. The program stars Yassir Lester as Chris and Adam Pally as Dan. Vereen is cast as Dr. Theodore Anthony Cobell, a professor in the history department and counselor to Chris.

Vereen won a Tony Award and a Drama Desk Award in 1973 for his role in Pippin. The year prior, he was nominated for a Tony for his performance in Jesus Christ Superstar. He was last seen on Broadway in Wicked as The Wizard.
