Ben Miles, Adam Godley, and Simon Russell Beale will star as the Lehman brothers in the previously announced National Theatre production ofStefano Massini's The Lehman Trilogy, adapted by Ben Power.
The production, directed by Sam Mendes, will begin performances in July (exact date to be announced).
Told over three parts in a single evening, The Lehman Trilogy follows the 163-year tale that begins with a young man in Bavaria dreaming of a new life and ends with the largest financial crisis in history.
The Lehman Trilogy, which opened at the Piccolo Teatro in Milan in 2015, turned out to be Artistic Director Luca Ronconi’s final production before his death. An admirer of Ronconi’s, Mendes was inspired to begin planning an English adaptation for Neal Street Productions. From a literal English translation by Mirella Cheeseman, Power was commissioned to create a new version of the play.
The brand new comedy from the Play That Goes Wrong creators brings the chaos and humour of The Cornley Amateur Drama Society to the work of Charles Dickens.
Inspired by Schnitzler's La Ronde, DiPietro's play reimagines the tale of sexual power, discovery, and exploration in the context of today’s gay scene.
