Ebony Magazine has released its 2022 Power 100 list, a collection of outstanding African-American leaders across a variety of industries, including Broadway.
Among the Broadway names on this year's list: West Side Story star and 2022 Tony Awards host Ariana DeBose and producer and Thoughts of a Colored Man producer and Chicago alum Kandi Burruss in the Entertainment Powerhouses category; The Piano Lesson and Ain't No Mo' producer Brian Anthony Moreland, Slave Play playwright and producer Jeremy O. Harris, Tony-winning A Strange Loop writer Michael R. Jackson, and Tony-winning MJ star Myles Frost in the Artists in Residence category; and Some Like It Hot co-book writer Amber Ruffin in the Media Mavens category.
Also recognized are Grammy-winning recording artist H.E.R., soon to be seen in ABC's Beauty and the Beast and the film adaptation of Broadway's The Color Purple; Grammy-winning recording artist and Broadway Chicago alum Usher; and drama teacher and 2022 Excellence in Theatre Education Award (presented by The Tony Awards and Carnegie Mellon University) winner Roshunda Jones-Koumba.
This year's leaders will be honored at a gala in Los Angeles October 29.
