Conceived and performed by Anthony Newfield, the play, according to press notes, "uses excerpts from John Steinbeck’s letters, essays, novels, short stories, as well as biographical details, to tell the story of his life. Growing up on the Central Coast of California, Steinbeck was greatly influenced by his surroundings. While focusing on his life and work, Steinbeck and the Land is also about what 'home' meant to Steinbeck and what it means to us."
Show time is 7:30 PM.
Newfield has appeared in Ivanov, The Winslow Boy, The Columnist, The Royal Family and Tartuffe.
The House of the Redeemer is located at 7 E. 95th Street. Tickets are $20; a reception will follow the reading. For reservations, call (212) 289-0399.
