David Cook, winner of the seventh season of American Idol, returns to the cast of the Tony-winning Kinky Boots beginning July 17 at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre.
Cook, who made his Broadway debut in the hit musical April 3–May 5, again steps into the role of Charlie Price through September 9. He succeeds Tyler Glenn (lead singer of the multi-platinum rock band Neon Trees), who played his last performance July 15.
“I am so honored and excited to get to come back to the factory,” Cook said in an earlier statement. “Kinky Boots is such a great show, made all the better by having an incredible cast, crew, and staff, and I can’t wait to help tell the story again!”
The winner of six 2013 Tony Awards including Best Musical, Kinky Boots features a Tony-winning score by Cyndi Lauper, a book by Tony winner Harvey Fierstein, and direction and choreography by Tony winner Jerry Mitchell.

The current Broadway cast also includes J.
