News All-Star Cast to Present Complete Reading of "The Iliad" Today as Part of Almeida's Greeks Festival in London A cast of more than 60 performs a marathon reading of the complete "The Iliad" as part of the Almeida Theatre's Greeks Festival, beginning at the British Museum and culminating on the Almeida stage Aug. 14. It is also being live-streamed on the Almeida's website.

The cast includes Bertie Carvel (Broadway's Miss Trunchbull in Matilda) and Ben Whishaw (currently starring in the Almeida's Bakkai), Katie Brayben (currently starring in the West End's Beautiful, who previously appeared at the Almeida in King Charles III), former Almeida artistic director Ian McDiarmid, Simon Callow, Mark Gatiss, Rory Kinnear, Simon Russell Beale, Lesley Manville and Brian Cox. Homer's The Iliad, which chronicles the Trojan War, is the source myth of Greek drama and the greatest story of heroism, betrayal and battle in Western literature. It will be directed by Almeida Artistic Director Rupert Goold and Associate Director Robert Icke.
