SpongeBob SquarePants, The Broadway Musical, the new musical based on the popular Nickelodeon cartoon series, is set to open on Broadway December 4 at the Palace Theatre. The show arrived in New York this fall after a well-received 2016 world-premiere engagement in Chicago (then titled The SpongeBob Musical).
Reprising their roles from the premiere are Ethan Slater as SpongeBob and Danny Skinner as Patrick Star, as well as Gavin Lee as Squidward Q. Tentacles, Lilli Cooper as Sandy Cheeks, Wesley Taylor as Sheldon Plankton, and Brian Ray Norris as Krusty Krab owner Eugene Krabs.

SpongeBob SquarePants, The Broadway Musical features a book by Kyle Jarrow and a score from a roster of pop and rock hit-makers, including Yolanda Adams, Steven Tyler and Joe Perry of Aerosmith, Sara Bareilles, Jonathan Coulton, Alexander Ebert of Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros, The Flaming Lips, Lady Antebellum, Cyndi Lauper, John Legend, Panic! At the Disco, Plain White T’s, They Might Be Giants and T.I., and a song by the late David Bowie and by Tom Kenny and Andy Paley.
